Mark Beard was born in 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah.   After that, the
history of his intermediary years is rather hazy.  However, the end result of
his artistic explorations aren't hazy at all:  They add up to one thing . .
..success.

Combining a talent for stage design (at New York's Ridiculous Theater
Company, which won him a much coveted Obie Award); with a talent for
sculpture (which won him a 2002 commission for the massive, bronze "Safra
Doors" at the newly executed Upper East Side Synagogue on East 64th
Street); with an Old Masters mastery of drawing and painting - which has
earned him a place in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in
New York, The Whitney Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, The Museum of
Modern of Art, The New York Public Library; The National Gallery in
Washington; the Boston Museum of Fine Arts; The Andy Warhol
Museum in Pittsburgh; the collections of Yale, Harvard and Princeton
Universities; the corporate collections of Chase Manhattan Bank
(amongst others); and the exclusive collections of museums and galleries too
extensive throughout the world to mention here.  (For instance, Mark was
commissioned to design and execute the foyer and theater of the Cologne
State Theater, as well being commissioned to create and
execute some of the murals within "das Schauspielhaus, Vienna".  He is
also one of the personal favorites of private collector Ralph Lauren - who has
bought over fifty pieces of Mark's diverse output for the benefit of both
himself and his company.
